Max’s Big Day
I have always been interested in creating children’s books and when my first iPad arrived. I could not miss this opportunity. Working with friends, co-workers and family. I started creating a story about something I was passionate about; the equalities of everyone. A little deep for a children’s book but I had to have an initial idea to start this process.
The concept was very high level and dealt with the theme that even though we are all different we are all the same. This theme had been done in many different ways before, so how did I make it unique. I began working with our internal designers on some high level illustrations to accompany the story. I knew I would have 8-10 characters and wanted to make sure they we’re all original. We created many sketches and started matching the scenes to the story lines. It was a fun process to work on something that was not Web based.
Once we had some solidified ideas and story lines, I approached a friend that was an accomplished illustrator in the Children Book world, Tara King. She was a breath of fresh air and came to the table with a bunch of ideas and we we’re truly able to collaborate to make something worth putting on the iPad:) She spent a few months drawing, erasing, and finally delivering the artwork. It was inspirational to see and made me go back and re edit my story some. Anyways take a look at some of the finished pieces that were created for Max’s Big Day. And if you have little one’s or like what you see here.
