Northern Virginia Technology Council — A refresh could be all you need!

Saforian understands that sometimes you don’t need a whole new website design to achieve your online goals. With extensive information to share to thousands of members statewide, the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) needed a refresh of their online presence to make navigating through all that content quick and easy.  NVTC also wanted to integrate some social functionality but was unsure how to make it work for members.

With these requirements in mind, Saforian started by evaluating NVTC’s vast collection of information and working with the organization to identify key content that is accessed repeatedly. Using wireframes, we presented a logical organizational structure that presented information without appearing overwhelming. In particular, the home page wireframe was developed to create simple and direct access points for key information.

 

Once we fully defined this super-organized structure for the data, and knowing that most site visitors have a specific goal to achieve, we turned to our designers to create a fresh, clean look that emphasized how to access the desired content. From the redesigned home page, existing members can now quickly access relevant NVTC news and potential members can easily apply for membership.

To create a more social environment for members, Saforian focused on converting passive browsing into active community participation to add value for all site users. Finally, we used design and content to highlight important information, such as upcoming council events and activities, in order to turn online participation into real-life networking opportunities for all members.
