Black Entertainment Television (BET) has a 25-year history of tailoring media programming and events to African-American audiences. The BET Awards and BET Hip Hop Awards are the media giant’s prestigious awards shows, honoring artistic contributions to the African-American community and the world at large. Saforian was invited to work with BET in defining the functionality of secure voting websites for each set of awards.

Saforian’s team worked with BET staff to analyze and define the detailed requirements and functionality specifications for each of the voting sites.

Keeping in Sync with the brand

Once the voting experiences were defined, Saforian developed a design strategy and composites that extended BET’s primary brand and design style to the award sites in ways that tied the family of sites together while keeping their identities distinct. Because of the varied demographics/characteristics of the audiences for the two groups of awards, Saforian’s creative development was appropriately tailored for each group.

Saforian’s designs were optimized for compatibility with mobile technology, creating logical experiences for devices such as the iPad and iPhone. With these varied platforms in mind, our designers focused on creating a user-friendly set up of categories and included all the information a voter could need in order to make decision.

Saforian created Facebook® specific designs to keep the awards brand consistent throughout. In addition requirements were spec'd out to provide full integration within Facebook's environment that gave participants easy access and a streamlined user experience.
